Jürgen Klopp
The first winner of the German-British #Freundship Award was Jürgen Klopp in 2021, the brilliant manager of Liverpool FC who already celebrated legendary successes with BVB in Germany. On 3 September 2021, the award was presented at a festive gala with around 300 guests. Campino from Die Toten Hosen presented the award to Jürgen Klopp; Bibiana Steinhaus-Webb hosted the event.

Lord Simon McDonald of Salford, KCMG KCVO was one of the laudators. He is a former British diplomat who was Permanent Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Head of the Diplomatic Service until September 2020. He has been a member of the BCCG Board since 2021.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Managing Director of Borussia Geschäftsführungs-GmbH, was the laudator. He has been Chairman of the Management Board of BVB since 1 January 2006.
