“The Turner Prize nominee Tacita Dean is considered the most important representative of her generation, and is renowned for her extraordinary films, drawings and photographs. Dean’s poetic exploration of being, time and transience appeals to people in her native Great Britain as well as in Germany, where she has lived for more than two decades,” stated BCCG President Michael Schmidt, summarizing the jury’s selection.

Dame Vivienne Westwood DBE
Commenting on the choice of the two women, jury spokesman John Kampfner said, “Just like the late fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, who is this year’s Lifetime Award winner and probably the most extraordinary fashion designer of recent times, Tacita Dean stands for art and culture, the promotion of young people and, above all, sustainability.”
